Abstract

This study presents an in-silico analysis of the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) protein and its interaction with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the context of ethidium bromide-induced reproductive dysfunction, with a focus on the potential modulatory effect of Smilax anceps ethanolic extract. Ethidium bromide is known to induce reproductive toxicity through oxidative stress, DNA damage, and disruption of hormonal signaling pathways, thereby impairing normal reproductive functions. Computational molecular docking approaches were employed to evaluate the binding interactions between FSHR and its ligand (FSH), as well as the interaction of bioactive compounds identified in Smilax anceps with the receptor. Protein structure retrieval was carried out from established databases, followed by preparation, optimization, and docking simulations using appropriate bioinformatics tools.
