THE GEOLOGY AND GEO CHEMICAL ASSESSMENT OF WOLFRAMITE OCCURRENCE AND ASSOCIATED MINERALS IN BASEMENT ROCKS OF KAJURU AREA, KADUNA NW NIGERIA
Abstract
This study focuses on the geology and geochemical assessment of wolframite occurrence and its associated minerals within the basement rocks of Kajuru area, Kaduna Northwest Nigeria. Detailed geological mapping, petrographic analysis, and geochemical evaluation were carried out to determine the nature, origin, and economic potential of the mineralization. The area is underlain predominantly by Precambrian basement rocks such as granites, pegmatites, schists, and quartz veins, which serve as the primary host rocks for wolframite mineralization. Geochemical analyses of rock and soil samples revealed significant concentrations of tungsten (W), tin (Sn), and other trace elements like molybdenum (Mo) and niobium (Nb), suggesting hydrothermal processes as the main mode of mineral enrichment. The findings indicate that Kajuru area holds promising potential for wolframite and related rare-metal exploration. The study contributes valuable data for further mineral exploration and sustainable resource development in Northwestern Nigeria.
