AN ASSESSMENT OF PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF LAND USE DECREE OF 1978 AS A REFORM INSTRUMENT IN NIGERIA

The chapter one of this project deals with the introductory part of this write-up which explains the genesis of land Use Act, how European through the Federal Government changed the customary land tenure to the statutory land tenure in Nigeria. It extends the aim of study, the objectives of the study, the need for the study, it also deals with the scope and limitation of the study and the brief history of the study area. The chapter two covers the theoretical and the conceptual framework, the meaning of land reform, origin of land reform, the goal of land reform and the need for land reform. It extends to land tenure system in Nigeria before the introduction of land Use Act which is the customary way of administrating land. The chapter also deals with objective of land Use Act as a compulsory acquisition of land and the process of compensation. Chapter three deals with the research methodology, the population sample size, and research instrument and constraints on the research. Chapter four deals with presentation and the analysis of data by summarizing the data to obtain answers. Finally, chapter five deals with the findings, Recommendation, Conclusion and References.
