Abstract

ABSTRACT Wound infections caused by staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonus ariginosa, shegella dyseriteriae pose significant health challenges, often leading to complications due to antibiotic resistance. This study investigates the antibacterial activity of Commiphora africana extracts against clinical isolates of staphylococcus aureus, pseudomonus ariginosa, shegella dyseriteriae obtained from infected wounds. Ethanolic and aqueous extracts of C. africana were prepared and screened for antibacterial efficacy using the agar well diffusion method. The FTIR were also conducted for the of them too. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were also determined. Results revealed that C. africana exhibited notable antibacterial activity against both pathogens, with the ethanolic extract demonstrating higher inhibition zones compared to the aqueous extract. The MIC and MBC values confirmed the potential of C. africana as a natural antimicrobial agent. These findings suggest that Commiphora africana could serve as an alternative or complementary treatment for bacterial wound infections,
