EXTRACTION AND COMPARATIVE PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SEED OIL OF MASQUERADE (POLIALTHIA LONGIFOLIA) AND GROUNDNUT OIL
Abstract
Nuts and seeds are good sources of oil and they are commercially available. These oils are usually sold in drums, tins, glass bottles and plastic containers in the market. The method of processing, storing and handling them affect their shelf life (Amoo et al.2006). Seed oils are important sources of nutritional oils, industrial raw materials and nutraceuticals. The characteristics of oils from different sources depend mainly on their compositions; no oil from a single source can be suitable for all purposes thus the study of their constituents is important.
