ASSESSMENTS OF ZOOPLANKTONS AND MACRO INVERTTEBRATES IN RELATION TO SOME PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF AJIWA DAM
Abstract
Zooplanktons and macro Invertebrates samples were collected weekly from three sampling stations at Ajiwa Dam for three weeks. The Temperature, pH, turbidity and dissolved oxygen (DO) were evaluated. Zooplanktons were sampled using plankton net while macro invertebrates were sampled using a scoop net and hand picks. The result revealed that zooplankton was made up of protozoans which are Coleps spp, ,Vorticella spp , and Sarcodina spp. While Rotifera, which are Branchionus spp , Stentor spp , and Rotararia spp .The macro invertebrates were also presented in two genera which includes Coleoptera which are Diving beetle , Whirling beetle and Black water beetle, while Hemiptera which are Water scorpion , Water strider and Giant water bug .
