Abstract

Haematologic and immunologic abnormalities are strong predictors of morbidity and mortality in HIV infections. However, with antiretroviral therapy, life expectancy is prolonged in patients infected by the virus. This study determined the haematologic and immunologic parameters among HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy. A total of 150 subjects; 50 HIV patients on ART, 50 HIV patients not on ART, and 50 negative subjects, were recruited for the study. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the ethics committee in ABSUTH as well as informed consent of the participants.
