DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF HAMMERING MACHINE
Abstract
This project focuses on designing and fabricating a hammering machine capable of performing hammering operations with minimal human intervention. The motivation behind this project stems from the absence of such machines in our workshop. Implementing an automated hammering system in industries will enhance productivity, improve operational safety, and simplify hammering tasks. Additionally, it will significantly benefit the metalworking sector by enabling faster and more precise hammering operations. The machine operates using an electric motor as the prime mover, ensuring efficient performance. Mild steel is selected as the primary material for fabrication due to its strength and durability. The mechanism consists of a large pulley connected to a shaft via a connecting rod. As the shaft rotates, it converts rotational motion into lateral movement, driving the hammering action. A mid-swinging arrangement links the hammer to the connecting rod, ensuring smooth operation. A sturdy bed is incorporated to securely hold the workpiece during hammering. The design process utilizes SolidWorks for modeling and simulation, ensuring precision and functionality before fabrication. Once completed, this automated hammering machine will offer industries a reliable, efficient, and safe alternative to manual hammering, reducing labor dependency and enhancing productivity.
