Abstract

This study investigates the physicochemical parameters of water bodies that favor mosquito breeding in Akoko North East Local Government Area. Water samples were collected from various breeding sites including stagnant ponds, gutters, and marshes during both wet and dry seasons. Parameters such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and nutrient levels were analyzed using standard laboratory methods. The results showed that water bodies with neutral to slightly acidic pH, moderate temperatures, low dissolved oxygen, and high nutrient content favored mosquito larval development. High turbidity levels were also associated with increased breeding activity.
