Abstract

This study investigates the water physiochemical parameter, morphological identification and insecticide susceptibility status of Aedes mosquitoes in South West Local Government Area of Ondo State. Water physiochemical of each sampled site were taken and the larva were collected using WHO standard dip method and the collected larva were transported to the Department of Animal and Environmental entomology laboratory where they were reared to adult followed with insecticide susceptibility test on the reared adult mosquitoes using CDC bottles bioassay and they were adequately identified morphologically using digital light microscope. The water physiochemical parameter analyzed shows that different parameters such as; temp, pH and turbidity enhanced the larval survival and their proliferation in the studied site. The susceptibility test revealed different degree of resistance in the sampled populations of Aedes mosquitoes to commonly used household insecticide Akoko South West Local Government area of Ondo State and mosquitoes morphological identification shows that 45% of mosquitoes identified were Aedes Mosquitoes.
