PHYTOCHEMICALS ANALYSIS, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-ULCEROGENIC PROPERTIES OF N-HEXANE LEAF EXTRACT OF MORINGA OLEIFERA LEAF
Abstract
This study investigates the phytochemical composition and anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of Moringa oleifera seeds. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds, including saponins and triterpenoids, which are known for their medicinal properties. The anti-inflammatory potential was evaluated using heat-induced hemolysis and proteinase activity assays. The extract showed significant membrane-stabilizing activity, inhibiting hemolysis in a dose-dependent manner, with an effect comparable to the standard drug diclofenac. Furthermore, the ethanolic extract demonstrated strong inhibition of proteinase activity, confirming its anti-inflammatory properties. These results suggest that Moringa oleifera seed extract could serve as a promising natural remedy for inflammatory conditions, offering a potential alternative to synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs. Further research is recommended to understand the extract's molecular mechanisms and clinical applications.
