UTILIZATION OF SERIAL PUBLICATIONS BY UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN ACADEMIC LIBRARIES: A CASE STUDY OF NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY KANO
Abstract
This study investigates the utilization of serial publications by undergraduate students in academic libraries, with a focus on Northwest University Kano. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, involving undergraduate students from selected faculties. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that although serial publications such as journals, magazines, and newspapers are available, their utilization among students is relatively low. Factors such as lack of awareness, inadequate access, outdated materials, and preference for digital resources contribute to low usage. The study concludes that improving accessibility and awareness can enhance the use of serial publications.
