INFORMATION NEEDS AND UTILIZATION OF LIBRARY RESOURCES AND SERVICES BY CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS IN OSUN STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY OSOGBO.
Abstract
The study investigates into information needs and utilization of library resources by children and young adults in Osun State public library. The research method used for this study was descriptive survey and the research instrument used for this study is questionnaire. The study revealed the information resources and services available for children and young adults in the library. The study also looked into the level of satisfaction of children and young adults with the resources and services available in the library. It was concluded that children and young adults need to be educated on how to locate information resources. If information resources are not available children and young adults would not find anything to lay hand on. In order to improve accessibility and utilization of information resources in the library therefore, other retrieval devices should be developed to make it easier for children and young adults to locate the resources.It recommends that the library must provide current information resources and services that will improve the children and young adult learning skill.
