Abstract

This study explores the integration of technology in chafing dishes, focusing on smart solutions that enhance food safety and quality. Traditional chafing dishes often lack advanced mechanisms for temperature control and monitoring, leading to inconsistent food quality and safety concerns. The study was conducted at Aenon suite, Osogbo, with a total of 15 respondents, all of whom completed the survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis. Findings indicate a strong relationship between smart chafing technologies and food safety, as the p-value of 0.003 (< 0.05) confirms the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) that smart technologies have no effect on food safety. Respondents acknowledged that smart chafing dishes, equipped with features such as real-time temperature monitoring, automated adjustments, and energy-efficient designs, significantly enhance food safety and quality. The study concludes that smart chafing dishes have the potential to become an industry standard by improving food safety, operational efficiency, and energy consumption while reducing environmental impact. Recommendations include investing in smart chafing dishes with advanced heating technologies like induction heating, providing staff training on their effective use, and continuously monitoring their performance to maximize benefits.
