DEVELOPMENT OF A SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM WITH CUSTOM FEATURES AND TIME MANAGEMENT CONTROL ( KONET )
Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of KONET, a modular and time-
conscious social networking platform built using C#.net, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. Unlike
conventional social media platforms that prioritize prolonged user engagement, KONET
introduces a responsible approach by integrating features that help users manage their digital
time. A key innovation in the system is the ability for users to set personal daily usage limits.
Once this threshold is exceeded, the platform automatically logs them out and restricts access
for a defined cooldown period promoting healthier online habits. The platform also includes
core social networking functionalities such as user registration and login, post creation,
like/unlike interactions using AJAX, profile management (including bio, avatar, and daily
limit), and a dynamic theme switcher to personalize the user interface. The application is
designed with a modular codebase, allowing ease of maintenance and future feature expansion.
Testing was conducted in a controlled local server environment using XAMPP, with
satisfactory results showing accurate time tracking, real-time post interaction, and secure
session handling. The system proves to be a functional and responsible alternative to traditional
social networks, especially within academic and youth-focused environments. KONET
demonstrates the practical application of full-stack App development while addressing the
growing concern of digital well-being through conscious design.
