ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE IN THE PROCESS OF ACCOUNTING INFORMATION OF AN ORGANIZATION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
In this academic analysis, I discuss the disruptive power of accounting software on the accounting information management procedures in businesses. The emergence of the adoption of digital solutions has become inseparable with an awareness of the ramifications of the change as the firms embrace ways to create more operational efficiency. Using a mixed methods design, the study combined the quantitative data in the form of surveys of the accounting professionals in various industries and the qualitative information obtained during the in-depth interviews. The resultant findings illustrate that organizations that implement the accounting software have significant improvements in a number of critical dimensions. To start with, the validity and reliability of financial information will be significantly enhanced, which will help to reduce risks of human error, which is part of manual accounting. Second, the speed at which data is processed has been increased making real time financial reporting and analysis readily available in the process, which consequently improves the decision making capacity. In addition, the research establishes the cost-effectiveness of the automated accounting operations leaving firms to shift resources to strategic activities. However, there is also a scope of challenges that are presented with the implementation of accounting software as outlined by the empirical evidence. Among them, the first and foremost is the need to provide extensive training of the staff to make them effective in using the system, and their possible integration with the information systems that already exist. Moreover, employee resistance to change is a material obstacle that organizations have to overcome in order to gain full out of the benefits of technological innovation. Overall, this question confirms the central role of accounting software not only in the facilitation of the accounting processes but also in the reinforcement of the strategic business decisions. Suggestions to the entities wishing to install and/or update their accounting systems are the importance and focus on training of a high standard, a strong change-management plan and continuous technological support and hence the full potential of the software is realized.
