INVESTIGATING THE INFLUENCE OF SOIL PROPERTIES ON FOUNDATION SETTLEMENT AND BEARING CAPACITY IN KANO
Abstract
The bearing capacity and load-deformation behavior of soil are crucial for shallow
foundations. Various established methods, including analytical, numerical, experimental,
laboratory, and field tests, are available to determine soil settlement and strength
properties (Ahmed et al., 2009; Rishath Sabrin et al.). Previously, researchers focused
either on ultimate bearing capacity or settlement at service load, without a unified
approach. Plate load tests (PLT) are a suitable alternative when subsurface information
is limited or extensive soil investigations are not feasible (Ahmed et al., 2009).
