DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEBBASED ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION CALCULATOR AND PREDICTION SYSTEM
Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a web-based electricity consumption calculator
and prediction system. The motivation arose from the limitations of conventional billing systems,
which provide only aggregated monthly data without giving users clear insights into their daily
consumption patterns. The proposed system enables users to input appliance details such as wattage,
usage duration, and frequency to calculate total consumption in kilowatt-hours and associated costs.
A three-tier architecture was adopted, comprising a user-friendly presentation layer, a backend
processing layer for calculations and prediction, and a database layer for storage of inputs and historical
data. Predictive analytics using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models were integrated to forecast
future energy usage. The system also provides visual outputs through interactive charts and reports to
improve user understanding.
The developed system is lightweight, hardware-independent, and accessible across devices. It
empowers users to plan electricity budgets, adopt energy-saving practices, and contribute to sustainable
energy management
