Abstract

The increasing consumption of sachet water in Nigeria has raised concerns about its safety and quality. This study evaluated the bacteriological and physicochemical properties of sachet water samples from various sources in Nigeria. Results showed [insert key findings, e.g., "presence of coliform bacteria in 80% of samples, pH range of 6.2-7.8, and turbidity values exceeding WHO limits in 30% of samples"]. The study highlights the need for regular monitoring and quality control measures to ensure safe drinking water for consumers. Physicochemical Parameters: pH, Turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Electrical Conductivity, Temperature, Bacteriological Analysis, Total Viable Count (TVC), Total Coliform Count (TCC), Presence of E. coli, Pseudomonas, Coliform bacteria in 60% of samples: Indicates potential faecal contamination. Not good. E. coli detected in 30% of samples: Suggests faecal contamination, possible health risk, TVC ranged from 102 to 105 CFU/mL: Some samples exceeded WHO limits for drinking water. Physicochemical Results pH (6.7-7.5): Generally within WHO limits (6.5-8.5). Turbidity (0.5-5.0 NTU): 20% of samples WHO limit (1 NTU), TDS (300-600 mg/L): Within acceptable limits.
