EFFECT OF CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES ON CONSUMER PERCEPTION. A CASE STUDY OF NIGER DELTA REGION.
Abstract
This study investigates the effect of corporate sustainability practices on
consumer perceptions in the Niger Delta Region. The Niger Delta, known for
its rich natural resources and extensive industrial activities, particularly in the
oil and gas sector, faces significant environmental and social challenges.
Against this backdrop, companies operating in the region are increasingly
pressured to adopt sustainable practices that align with global sustainability
objectives and local development needs. The study employs a mixed-method
research design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches to
provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between corporate
sustainability practices and consumer perceptions. Data will be collected
through structured questionnaires administered to consumers and stakeholders,
as well as semi-structured interviews with key informants. The findings of this
research aim to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by shedding light
on how corporate sustainability practices influence consumer attitudes and
behaviors in the unique context of the Niger Delta Region. Additionally, the
study holds practical implications for companies operating in the region,
policymakers, and other stakeholders seeking to promote sustainable business
practices and enhance stakeholder relationships.
