Abstract

ABSTRACT This project investigates the application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques in identifying and minimizing production defects in a food packaging process. Data were obtained from inspection logs showing the number of defective and conforming cartons produced over time. Using a p-chart, the process performance was analyzed to determine whether it remained within statistical control limits. The results revealed fluctuations in defect rates, indicating variations in the production process that could be traced to packaging seal faults and equipment inconsistencies. Corrective actions such as improved operator training, preventive maintenance, and continuous monitoring were recommended to enhance process stability and product quality. The study concludes that implementing SPC tools like the p-chart enables organizations to detect process deviations early, maintain consistent quality standards, and achieve significant defect reduction.
