ONLINE PHARMARCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND STORE ATTENDANT CHECK OUT SYSTEM
Abstract
The Pharmacy Inventory Management System with Store Attendant Checkout System is a web-based application meticulously designed to tackle the pervasive inefficiencies inherent in manual inventory tracking and checkout processes within small-scale pharmacies. This system has been developed utilizing Python in conjunction with Fast API for the backend services, MySQL as the robust relational database management system, and React for the interactive frontend interface. It automates the management of pharmaceutical inventory, facilitates real-time updates to stock levels, incorporates comprehensive tracking of medication expiry dates, and delivers a highly streamlined checkout interface specifically tailored for store attendants. The project integrates role-based access controls for administrators and attendants to ensure secure and segregated operations, while also featuring an advanced dashboard that provides in-depth analytical insights. These insights encompass inventory analysis, system-generated alerts for impending product expirations, financial performance analysis, and detailed sales analysis. Key enhancements include dedicated APIs for monitoring medications that are set to expire within 30, 60, or 90 days, as well as identifying those that have already expired, thereby preventing the distribution of outdated or ineffective medications. This comprehensive report delineates the system's design principles, implementation strategies, and rigorous testing procedures, underscoring its capacity to minimize operational errors, boost overall efficiency, safeguard patient health and safety, and present a cost-effective alternative for small pharmacies. Notwithstanding certain limitations, such as the absence of multi-store functionality and sophisticated predictive analytics capabilities, the system stands as a pragmatic and reliable tool for small pharmacies. Future enhancements are proposed to further augment its capabilities and scalability. This study significantly contributes to the broader adoption of open-source technologies in the domain of pharmacy management, laying down a solid, extensible foundation for ongoing development and innovation in the field.
