DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSE AGENCY SYSTEM: A CASE STUDY OF AAUA
Abstract
This project presents the development of a House Agency System designed to streamline the process of securing student accommodation at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). The system addresses the challenges faced by students in locating affordable housing, including high agency fees, lack of reliable information, and limited access to verified landlords. The application connects students directly to property owners, eliminating the need for third-party agents.
The system was developed using a client-server architecture, with PHP and MySQL for backend operations and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend interface. Key features include property listing management, user authentication, search and filter options, landlord verification, and a feedback mechanism. The platform supports mobile responsiveness to ensure accessibility across devices.
The experimental setup involved testing the system with a sample of students and landlords within the AAUA community. Functionality, usability, and system response time were evaluated. Results showed improved access to accurate housing information, reduced accommodation costs, and enhanced communication between students and landlords.
The project contributes to improving the student housing process through digital innovation. It also provides a model that can be replicated in other institutions facing similar challenges. Future upgrades may include integration with mapping services, automated payment systems, and support for indigenous languages.
