Abstract

This project focuses on the design and implementation of an computer base Examination System for the School of Technology (SOT) in order to address the challenges associated with the traditional paper-based examination method. The manual examination system currently in use is characterized by delays in result processing, high administrative cost, examination malpractice, human errors in marking, and poor record management. These challenges reduce the efficiency, transparency, and credibility of the examination process. The study adopted a system development approach involving system analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observation to identify the problems of the existing system and determine user requirements. The proposed system was developed using PHP as the server-side scripting language, MySQL as the database management system, and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface. The system was deployed on a local server using XAMPP to ensure reliability in environments with limited internet connectivity. The developed computer base Examination System allows secure student registration and authentication, automated exam delivery, instant grading of objective questions, and real-time result generation. Testing results show that the system is efficient, accurate, user-friendly, and secure. The study concludes that the computer base Examination System significantly improves examination administration and recommends its adoption in the School of Technology to enhance efficiency, fairness, and academic integrity.
