TECHNICAL REPORT ON SHOPPING MALL FOR OFFA KWARA STATE
Abstract
PREFACE
This project introduces the design of a modern shopping mall with the focus on customer experience, comfort, and sustainability based on the combination of the open spaces, natural lighting, and practical design. This work is aimed at discussing the potential of the architectural design to contribute to the development of the social life, the economic one and the pleasant environment of the shoppers and the retailers.
The project underscores the importance of architecture in enhancing standard of the public spaces through a combination of business with leisure. It aims to come up with a design that would not only be appealing to the eyes but also effective in functionality to support the needs of the users and also react to climatic and environmental factors.
During this research, case studies of the existing shopping malls were examined and relevant in order to know about space organization, circulation and design measures. The information acquired during these studies was used to design a concept of the retail store that incorporates the contemporary retailing standards with the local context and culture.
Another quality that this work should bring to the architectural discussion on the development of shopping spaces in Nigeria is the aspect of making design a means of innovation, sustainability, and connection with the community.
