Abstract
Science is an intellectual activities carried out by scientists designed to discover information about the natural world in which we live and to discover ways in which this information can be organized to benefit human race (Ravetz, 2020). Chang et al (2020) defined science as a systematic study of natural phenomena which allows students to experience the richness and excitement of the natural world, the process of inquiring critical thinking and demonstration skills. Science education has to do with the teaching and training of individuals to acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes systematically and the application of these values to the society, the relevance of science to national goals aspirations and economy dictates to a large extent, the huge commitment to support science and technology development. Breznau et al (2022) defined science as a complex human activity that leads to the production of observation behavior of the universe; it is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experimentation. Various observations have been made with regards to the roles played by science towards national development globally. Lal et al (2021) observed that evidence exists that science is not only tools but also a vehicle for all round development of any nation. The level of scientific development of any nation determines the standard of living of the citizens of that nation. This is so because science has become powerful tool for resolving societal problems globally (Ajewale and Owolabi, 2019).
