ONLINE HEALTH CONSULTATION AND VIRTUAL PHARMACY SYSTEM
Abstract
Centuries ago, Telemedicine was largely categorized as unreliable and unaffordable. With
the evolution of telecommunications and information technologies, a solid foundation has
been set up for telemedicine to show that it is practical and essential. (Sood et al., 2007).
There is a growing demand for accessible and quality healthcare services in Nigeria and with
the integration of the digital health space, it helps to curbs the issue. This project pitches the
design and development of an Online Health Consultation and Virtual Pharmacy System.
Web-based technologies were introduced to follow a simple and smooth approach that
connects patients to qualified doctors. The project aims to address the issues in the Nigerian
healthcare system which include limited access to professional doctors, order medicine
online, and the complications that come with physical consultations. The platform offers
services such as virtual consultations, electronic prescriptions, drug availability checks, and
the ability to make requests for medicine. Overall, this work has the potential to scale largely
in the nation as it sets the tone for a more responsive and inclusive digital health sector in
Nigeria.
