Abstract

Gongronema Latifolium is a tropical rainforest plant, which belongs to the family of asclepisdaceae genus, G. latifolium has its common name as “Bush Buck”. G Latifolium is widespread in tropical Africa such as Senegal, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Gongronema Latifolium is used in West Africa for medical purpose. It has been used in folk medicine to cure diabetes, mellitus, stomach pain, fungal and bacterial infection etc. Agar diffusion and both dilution methods were used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) at different concentration. Antimicrobial activity shows that methanol extract was the most effective with activity against all test organized except Pseudomonas aeruginosa which indicate that methanol is a better extract than aqueous extract.
