APPLICATION OF QUEUING MODELS IN MEDICAL HEALTH SERVICES
Abstract
This study focuses on application of queuing models in medical health services using Federal
Polytechnic Ede Medical Centre, as a case study. The study employed primary data sourced
from Federal Polytechnic Ede Medical Centre. The primary aim was to assess service efficiency
and identify operational. The data showed that the average patient arrival rate (λ) was 11.93,
exceeding the average service rate (μ) of 7.79, indicating potential congestion in the queuing
system. To enable a valid queuing model analysis, the data were adjusted to reflect an arrival
rate of 8.48 and a service rate of 9.52, meeting stability conditions for a single-server system
