BODY DIMENSIONAL TRAITS OF LOHMANN BROWN HENS ADMINISTERED OF ALOE VERA LEAF (ALOE BARBADENSIS MILLER)
Abstract
The study was carried out at University Teaching and Research Farm of the Department of Animal Science, Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil to investigate the effect of Barbadensis miller on Lohman Brown Hen on body dimensional parameters and performance. Sixteen (16) Lohman Brown Hen was used for this study. These birds were allocated in four treatments with four (4) animals per treatments. Treatment I was the control, 12 was given 0.5g of BM/Liter for 6 days, 13 1g/Litter for 4 days and T4 15g/Liter for 2 days respectively. At the end of the study BL, TL, CC, BC, HC, LL, WL, and SL was measured and interpreted into result for analysis the result shows that there were significant difference (P0.05) respectively, TI (21.36), T2 (22.00) T3 (20.75) and T4 (20.88). Similarly, TL was significantly (P0.05) was recorded in Tl (8.13), T2 (10.13) T3 (11.05) and T4 (11.02) for TL and CL Significant differences was observed in T2 T3 and T4 with TI for CL. The value recorded as highest mean value is T2 (2.90), with respect to PL and PC no significant (P>0.05) difference was observed in all the treatment value recorded. In conclusion the study reveals that Barbadensis miller has no deleterious effect on body dimensional parameters on Lohman Brown Hen. The studies also recommend that laying birds could be given Barbadensis miller up to 1g per liter without any effect on performance and feed intake.
