Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine cyber awareness and cyber bullying campaign in Abuja Metropolis, Nigeria. The findings from the quantitative data reveal that there is a reasonable level of awareness about cyber threats and cyberbullying among respondents, critical gaps remain in practical knowledge, enforcement, and response mechanisms. Many individuals understand the importance of protecting personal information and recognize the risks associated with common online practices such as password reuse and phishing scams. Cyber bullying is widely acknowledged as a serious issue, particularly on social media platforms, and is seen to contribute to emotional distress, psychological harm, and social isolation among victims. Despite this recognition, under-reporting remains a challenge. Contributing factors such as poor enforcement of cyber laws, limited digital literacy, peer pressure, anonymity, and weak parental monitoring further exacerbate the problem. To achieve the aim of the study, literature was reviewed. A quantitative research method was used in which questionnaire, the major instrument was distributed to various respondents in the execution of the study. A total of 150 respondents were drawn from the study area using simple random sampling techniques. Simple percentage calculations was used to analyze the data. The study recommends enhancing public sensitization, digital education, stronger cybercrime enforcement, and improved support systems to address the growing threats of cyber insecurity and online harassment.
