LIBRARY ORIENTATION AS A DETERMINANT OF LIBRARY USE AMONG STUDENTS IN TWO SELECTED ACADEMIC LIBRARIES IN KWARA STATE
Abstract
This study examined library orientation as a determinant of library use among students in two selected academic libraries in Kwara State. The purpose of the study was to determine how library orientation programmes influence students’ awareness and effective use of library resources and services. The study adopted a survey research design, and data were collected through the use of questionnaires administered to students of the selected institutions. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages. The findings revealed that library orientation plays a significant role in improving students’ knowledge of library resources, services, and facilities, which in turn enhances their level of library use. The study therefore recommends that academic libraries should organize regular and effective orientation programmes for students to improve the utilization of library resources and services.
