Abstract

ABSTRACT In recent times it has been observed that, the standard of yoghurt has not been maintained. Therefore, this project is meant to establish whether or not the yoghurt producers maintained the set standard of production. This project aim at applying quality control techniques in the production process of yoghurt and improving the quality of the products to remain relevant in the competitive market. The data used in this project was collected on two measurable quality characteristics (attribute and variables). The statistical tools used are a P-chart, x-bar char and R-chart, centerline control limit, (CL), upper control limit (UCL) and lower control limit (LCL) were obtained for the charts. The P-chart was used in analyzing the number of defectives. The upper control limit and the lower control limit for the p-chart constructed show that the process is out of control. Similarly, the X-bar chart and R-chart indicated that the production is out of control. In conclusion, the factory should maintain its production standards to retain its customers. Based on the result of the analysis carried we observed that the variation was an assignable course not by chance.
