CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND PERFORMANCE OF DANGOTE CEMENT COMPANY, OBAJANA, KOGI STATE

This study examined Corporate Social Responsibility And Performance Of Dangote Cement Company, Obajana, Kogi State. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of corporate social responsibility on the net profit margin of Dangote Cement Company, Obajana and to assess the effect of corporate social responsibility on the return on assets of Dangote Cement company, Obajana and to determine the effect of corporate social responsibility on the return on equity of Dangote Cement company, Obajana. The source of data collection was primary data which was gathered through structured questionnaire that were administered on seventy one (71) respondents. The methodology adopted for the study is the descriptive research design. The data gathered were analyzed using descriptive statistics in which tables and percentages were employed. The hypotheses formulated were verified using linear regression model. Based on the analysis, it is evident that cooperate social responsibility has a positive significant effect on net profit margin, which means that the cooperate social responsibility practice by the cement Company is effective according to the stakeholders, result revealed that cooperate social responsibility has a positive significant effect on the return on asset of the Dangote cement Company during the period of the study, that a positive effect of cooperation social responsibility on the return on equity. The findings conclusion and recommendations were made that Company should consider Corporate social responsibility activities with utmost considerations to the host community, the cement Company should involve their self in Corporate social responsibility activities to improve their relationship with host communities in other to improve the firm performance and they should be a funding program which will usually donate to host communities through community development boards (CDB) for the execution of their own projects. This has the potential to help cultivate positive and mutually beneficial relationships between the firms operating in this area and their host communities, to ensure peaceful mining environment to improve performance.
