DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED REGISTRATION SYSTEM FOR KEBBI STATE PILGRIMS (A CASE STUDY OF KEBBI STATE PILGRIMS WELFARE AGENCY, BIRNIN KEBBI)
Abstract
The manual process of registering pilgrims in Kebbi State has long been characterized by inefficiencies such as delays, data loss, errors, and poor coordination between officials and intending pilgrims. These challenges often result in duplicated efforts, increased workload for staff, and inconvenience for applicants. This project, titled “Design and Implementation of a Web-Based Registration System for Kebbi State Pilgrims,” was developed to overcome these limitations by providing a digital platform that automates and simplifies the entire registration process. The system was designed and implemented using modern web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of use. The Agile Development Model was adopted to guide system development due to its flexibility, iterative approach, and focus on user feedback at each stage of implementation. The system consists of three user categories pilgrims, staff, and administrators.each with specific roles and privileges. Pilgrims can register online, update personal information, and verify payment records; staff can manage applications and validate data; while administrators oversee all operations, generate reports, and manage system users. The system architecture follows a three-tier structure comprising the presentation layer, application layer, and database layer. This ensures data security, logical separation, and efficient performance. Features such as secure login authentication, automated verification, and report generation were integrated to enhance functionality and transparency. Testing results confirmed that the system is robust, user-friendly, and capable of handling large volumes of data with minimal errors.
In conclusion, the developed web-based registration system has proven to be an efficient, secure, and reliable solution for managing pilgrim registration in Kebbi State. It reduces paperwork, improves data management, enhances accountability, and aligns with the state’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
