DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT OF AN E-COMMERCE PORTAL WITH INTEGRATION PAYMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
The rapid growth of internet technologies has revolutionized the way businesses interact with customers, paving the way for e-commerce as a dominant platform for buying and selling goods. This project focuses on the design and implementation of a user-centric e-commerce portal with integrated online payment functionality. The system was developed to streamline product browsing, ordering, and secure payment processing, leveraging modern web technologies and third-party APIs such as Paystack for payment integration.
Through a structured software development life cycle, the system was designed to support key features such as user registration and login, product catalog management, shopping cart functionality, order tracking, and real-time payment verification. Emphasis was placed on usability, security, and scalability. Comparative analysis of existing platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento informed design decisions, while adoption models like the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovations guided user experience considerations.
The developed system was tested and validated for performance, security, and user-friendliness. Results show that the portal successfully supports end-to-end e-commerce transactions while maintaining data integrity and user trust. The project demonstrates the potential of customized e-commerce solutions in enhancing digital business operations, especially in emerging markets.
