Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health challenge worldwide and is closely associated with renal and cardiovascular complications. Essential hypertension, the most common form, often progresses silently, leading to alterations in biochemical markers such as electrolytes, urea, and creatinine. This study aims to evaluate the levels of serum electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and chloride, bi carbonate), urea, and creatinine in essential hypertensive subjects and to compare them with normotensive and controls. The goal is to assess the potential of these biomarkers in predicting cardiovascular risk and kidney function deterioration. Findings from this study are expected to highlight the clinical significance of regular biochemical monitoring in hypertensive patients to aid early intervention and reduce the risk of severe health outcomes such as heart attacks and renal failure.
