Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the alternative learning resources for ICT-based
courses in Office Technology and Management at Federal Polytechnic Idah. the study
adopted survey design since it sought for the opinion and belief of the respondent. To
guide the study, four research questions and two hypotheses were formulated. The
population of the study comprised 181staffs and students of Office Technology and
management students, Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi state. The main instrument used
for data collection was structured 5 point rating scales questionnaire. Data collected
was analyzed using frequency table, mean statistics and T-test analysis. the analysis
revealed the following findings: Virtual Learning Environments include: Video
conferencing tools, E-libraries and digital repositories, collaborative tools, social media
platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook. Blended Learning for ICT-based
courses include: Flipped Classroom: e.g., students watch lectures at home and work on
activities in class, Hybrid Courses: e.g., part of the course is online and part is face-to
face, Online Modules with Face-to-Face Components: e.g., online learning is
supplemented by in-class activities, Blended Labs: e.g., online theory is followed by
hands-on lab work, Integrated Online and Offline Learning: e.g., online resources
complement face-to-face lectures. Experiential Learning include: Internships: e.g.,
students gain experience in a workplace setting, Project-Based Learning: e.g., students
learn by working on real-world projects, Simulations: e.g., students practice skills in a
simulated work environment, Work-Based Learning: e.g., learning occurs through actual
work experiences Peer-Assisted Learning include: Students help each other understand
concepts, Study Groups: e.g., students work . together to learn material, Peer Review:
e.g., students give feedback on each other's work, Collaborative Projects: e.g., students
work together on assignments, Peer Teaching: e.g., students teach concepts to their
peers, Group Discussions: e.g., students discuss topics in groups to learn together.
Based on the findings it was recommended that Institutions should invest in reliable
internet access, expand digital repositories, and integrate Learning Management
Systems (LMS) to support video conferencing, collaborative tools, and social media
based learning; that the tertiary institutions should combine online and face-to-face
teaching methods. That approaches like flipped classrooms and hybrid courses
enhance flexibility and engagement. That the programs should include internships,
simulations, and project-based assignments. These methods give students hands-on
experience with real-world ICT challenges. That leverage tools like Zoom, e-libraries, and
WhatsApp for instructional delivery. These platforms ensure continuous access to
learning materials and peer interaction
