Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the Usage of X in News Sourcing and Dissemination among Journalists in Kwara and Osun States. Four objectives form the basis of the investigation. The study adopted the survey research design, using a structured questionnaire administered to 196 journalists across both states. Findings revealed that X is widely used by journalists due to its speed, interactivity, and access to real-time information. The platform was found to adequately meet journalists’ information needs and enhance news dissemination. However, concerns emerged regarding misinformation, credibility issues, information overload, and technical challenges such as poor internet connectivity. The study concludes that while X significantly enhances journalistic practice, journalists must consistently verify information and apply professional ethics to maintain objectivity. Recommendations include digital literacy training, improved verification practices, and media policies that support responsible online journalism. Keywords: X, Journalism, News Sourcing, News Dissemination, Credibility, Social Media, Kwara State, Osun State.
