Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the role of postcolonial literature in reclaiming and revitalizing indigenous cultures through an analysis of Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Virtue and Vengeance and Reni K. Amayo's Daughters of Nri. By challenging stereotypes and promoting an understanding of indigenous African cultures, these novels serve as powerful tools for inspiring pride in African heritage and resisting colonial narratives. The research adopts a qualitative approach, employing literary analysis techniques, including thematic and comparative analysis, to examine the cultural and societal implications depicted in the novels. The primary objective is to investigate how Adeyemi and Amayo use their works to deconstruct colonial ideologies, empower marginalized voices, and redefine cultural identity within the framework of postcolonialism. This study's findings contribute to the growing body of research on postcolonial literature and indigenous cultural reclamation, offering valuable insights into the complexities of cultural identity, resistance, and decolonization. The research also underscores the significance of these narratives in enriching academic discourse and informing strategies for cultural preservation and revitalization, making it a vital resource for scholars, researchers, and students of postcolonial studies, African literature, and cultural criticism.
