Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines Nigeria's economy and security challenges under the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari, with a specific focus on the End SARS protest of October 2020. The study seeks to understand the economic and security conditions that gave rise to the protest, the nature of the protest itself, and the impact it had on the Nigerian economy and national security. Nigeria under the Buhari administration faced serious economic difficulties including a recession, high unemployment, inflation, and a fall in oil revenues. At the same time, the country experienced rising insecurity in the form of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and widespread police brutality.
