INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS ON CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PERFORMANCE
Abstract
Abstract
The construction industry relies heavily on interactions among various stakeholders, making social networks an important factor in project success. This study examines the influence of social networks on construction project performance, focusing on how relationships and communication among project participants affect project outcomes. Social networks facilitate information sharing, collaboration, trust building, resource mobilization, and effective decision-making, all of which contribute to improved project performance. The study highlights that strong social connections among clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other stakeholders can enhance project efficiency, reduce delays, minimize conflicts, and improve overall productivity. However, challenges such as favoritism, information distortion, and stakeholder exclusion may negatively impact project outcomes if social networks are not properly managed. Through a review of relevant literature, the study concludes that effective social network structures significantly influence construction project performance by promoting cooperation, knowledge exchange, and stakeholder engagement. The findings emphasize the need for construction organizations and project managers to strategically develop and manage social networks to achieve successful project delivery in terms of cost, time, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
