Abstract

This study investigates the protective potential of Asystasia gangetica extract against flunitrazepam-induced renal toxicity and apoptotic tissue damage in adult male Wistar rats. It evaluates how the administration of this sedative triggers cellular stress and alters the expression of key apoptotic biomarkers, such as Bax, Bcl-2, and Caspase-3, within the kidney tissue. Through biochemical assays and histopathological examinations, the research analyzes the extract's ability to modulate these specific proteins and mitigate oxidative stress. The findings demonstrate that Asystasia gangetica significantly suppresses pro-apoptotic markers and upregulates anti-apoptotic defenses, offering notable nephroprotective qualities against drug-induced injury. Ultimately, the project underscores the therapeutic value of this plant extract as a natural intervention for managing cellular damage and maintaining renal integrity during chemical toxicity.
