DEVELOPMENT OF A PEER NETWORK APPLICATION FOR COLLABORATIVE BOOK SHARING AMONG STUDENTS
Abstract
The Development of a Peer Network Application for Collaborative Book Sharing among
Students, aim at addressing the challenge of limited access to academic textbooks in higher
institutions. Many students struggle to obtain essential learning materials due to high costs,
inadequate library resources, and the absence of a structured sharing mechanism. To solve
this problem, a web-based peer-to-peer system was developed to enable students to list,
borrow, lend, and request books directly from one another within an authenticated academic
community.
The system adopts a three-tier architecture consisting of the presentation layer, logic layer,
and data layer. It integrates modules for user authentication, book catalog management, peer
request handling, notifications, and administrative oversight. Built using web technologies,
the platform ensures usability, security, and scalability. Testing procedures including unit,
integration, and user acceptance tests confirmed that the system performs reliably,
facilitating seamless book exchanges and fostering collaborative learning.
The results demonstrate that a structured peer network significantly improves access to
academic resources, reduces student expenses, and strengthens knowledge-sharing
communities. The project contributes a functional digital solution that complements
traditional library services and supports academic development in higher institutions.

During this period, researchers with legitimate academic or research purposes may request authorisation directly from the author to enable NERD to release the indexed full texts of the work using the form below.
