Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examined the effect of computer studies on students' performance in some selected junior secondary schools in Jere Local Government Area. The study investigated the influence of computer studies on academic achievement, the availability of computer facilities, and the challenges faced in teaching the subject. A descriptive research design was adopted, and data were collected through questionnaires administered to teachers and students. The findings revealed that effective teaching of computer studies significantly improves students' academic performance. However, challenges such as inadequate facilities, lack of trained teachers, and insufficient practical sessions were identified. It was recommended that government and school authorities provide adequate computer facilities, train teachers, and integrate more practical lessons to enhance learning outcomes.
