EMPLOYEE’S PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL AS A TOOLS FOR ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL GOAL (A STUDY OF SINCERE MICRO FINANCE BANK, OFFA KWARA STATE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines Employee’s Performance Appraisal as a Tool for Achieving Organizational Goals, using Sincere Microfinance Bank, Offa, Kwara State as a case study. The main objective of the research is to assess how performance appraisal systems influence employee motivation, productivity, and overall organizational effectiveness. The study adopts a descriptive survey design, with data collected through structured questionnaires administered to staff members across different departments of the bank. Statistical tools such as frequency distribution and percentage analysis were employed to interpret the data. Findings reveal that an effective performance appraisal system plays a significant role in improving employee efficiency, enhancing job satisfaction, and aligning individual performance with the bank’s strategic objectives. However, the study also identifies challenges such as bias in evaluation, inadequate feedback, and lack of follow-up actions that can hinder the effectiveness of appraisal practices. The study concludes that performance appraisal, when properly designed and implemented, serves as a vital managerial tool for achieving organizational goals. It recommends that Sincere Microfinance Bank should ensure transparency in the appraisal process, provide regular feedback, and link appraisal results to training and reward systems to maximize employee potential and organizational success.
