DESIGN OF FLUIDIZED BED GRAIN SEPARATOR FOR DOMESTIC APPLICATION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Fluidized beds are effective for particle separation, nevertheless issues such
as inefficient stratification, entrainment of fines persist hence, there is a need
for a comprehensive investigation into factors that affect separation in
Fluidized beds and the development of optimized techniques for improved
performance. Fluidized bed system for particle separation is generally an
essential process in various industrial sectors. A fluidized bed grain separator
is a system designed to separate grains of different shapes, sizes and densities
using a fluidized bed technology. This study presents the design,
development, and testing of a domestic-scale fluidized bed grain separator.
The device utilizes a blower to create a fluidized bed of grains, allowing for
efficient separation of grains. The separator's performance was evaluated
using various grain types, and the results showed denser particle settles below
the less dense particle in the column there by separation and collecting the
less dense particle over the denser particle. This work enhances the
understanding of fluidized bed and provides insight for improving particle
separation processes. It also sets for future investigations and aimed at
advancing separation technologies across range of applications for various
industries and homes.
