DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF DOMESTIC SOLAR WATER HEATER
Abstract
This project focuses on the design and construction of a domestic solar hot water system using a flat plate collector to harness solar energy for water heating. The system operates by circulating water through the collector, where it absorbs heat before being stored in a container for later use.
The study evaluates the system’s performance by monitoring its temperature change and assessing its efficiency. The temperature of the surrounding varied between 25 and 33°C, the inlet and outlet temperature and the collector temperature rose to a maximum of 58 and 83°C. The temperature in the water storage container was between 46 and 58°C. These results means that the system can provide hot water, demonstrating its potential as an alternative to conventional means of heating water.
