PHYTOCHEMICAL AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDIES OF GOSSYPIUM HERBACEUM LEAVES USING N-HEXANE EXTRACT
Abstract
Phytochemicals composition and antimicrobial properties of n-hexane extracts from Gossypium herbaceum leaves. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of key bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, terpenoids, and alkaloids, known for their medicinal properties. The antimicrobial activity was assessed against various bacterial and fungal strains using standard agar diffusion methods. Results indicated significant inhibitory effects on the growth of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as no table antifungal activity. The findings suggest that Gossypium herbaceum leaves possess potent antimicrobial properties, attributed to the irrichphy to chemical content. This research supports the potential use of Gossypium herbaceum as a natural antimicrobial agent inphy to therapy and under scores the need for further studies to isolate and characterize individual compounds for the rape tic applications.
