Abstract

This study examines the impacts of abattoir activities on human health, water quality, and the physical environment. Abattoirs play an important role in meat production and food supply; however, their operations often generate large quantities of solid and liquid wastes that may adversely affect the environment and public health. The study investigates the effects of abattoir effluents, waste disposal practices, and environmental sanitation on surrounding communities. Data were collected through field observations, laboratory analysis of water samples, and questionnaires administered to residents. The findings reveal that improper disposal of abattoir waste contributes to water contamination, environmental degradation, unpleasant odors, and increased health risks. The study concludes that effective waste management practices are necessary to minimize the environmental and health impacts of abattoir operations.
